the teenage brain.

Canyon and I were riding up the ski lift a few days back.
On the chair behind us were some teenagers with their shirts off,
singing at the top of their lungs.
I could tell Canyon was a little... or a lot embarrassed for them.
He told me he thought they were crazy weird.
I told him that when you become a teenager you brain goes sort of nuts.
and you end up doing crazy weird things.
He swore it would never happen to him.
And that he would never do such outrageous things with people around watching him.
I told him it seemed impossible now but in time it would probably happen.
He looked kind of scared.
I told him not to worry. For it happens to the best of us.
But....then he smiled his bashful smile and admitted that he might never be full on nuts.
But maybe part nuts...but just a little.
That sounded good to me.
I can handle part nuts... can't I?
For now I'm just grateful his brain is still 9 almost 10
and that he will still ride up the chair lift with me.

Tell Canyon he was sorely missed for our sharing time today. I think he would have been a great Enoch, because he is very pure in heart.

I agree with Ali...I love your posts about your day-to-day conversations. So cute. And I had to smile because do we all have memories of crazy teenager times, or what?!?

What a sweet boy! Time goes to fast and soon you will find out if he goes just "a little nuts".

Funny conversation! I love how you described the inevitability of the teenage brain turning nuts to him. It's probably reassuring for him to know that you're prepared for it and will love him despite it (even if he is convinced that he is immune to it)... you just got the awesome mom of the day award from me :)
